Post WWII actions are of the M1924/25 standard size, or the M1958. Link to the Mannlicher photos is included here Thanks for your help. Now living in Alberta, Canada. Our Assessment: This is a nice Model 1908 Mannlicher Schoenauer Carbine that was made by Steyr. It has a few cosmetic issues that are expected of an older rifle. The rifle still has a deep blue finish and the bore is still bright. It comes with a spoon bolt handle, internal rotary magazine, double set triggers, 2 leaf rear sight, hand checkering and deep crisp markings on the metal. The rifle is marked “8×57 MR B.BLINDEE”. This marking appears to have been added after the factory markings. We tried a few different rounds of 8x57mm rounds and none of them chambered. Page 1017 of the, Blue Book of Gun Values, 26th Edition, lists this rifle as only being offered in 8×56 MS. We believe the “8×57” marking on the receiver is a mistake by a gunsmith who was adding the owner’s name to the rifle.
